TownSmith Web Templates Features List

TownSmith Web Templates is a fully customizable software framework, allowing us to enable or disable any of the following functional elements or to add new functional elements specific to a client's project.

  • Static Page Generation—Unlike other Web page templating solutions. TownSmith Web Templates generates static pages rather than dynamic ones. It is more efficient to serve users a static page than a dynamic one as the system does not need to query a database each time a user views a template-driven page. Static pages are also more easily bookmarked by users and indexed by search engines.

  • Editing—Using the same engine that creates pages, TownSmith Web Templates allows a user to return, edit, and regenerate their pages at any time through any browser at any location connected to the Internet.

  • Multilingual Capabilities—Using TownSmith Web Templates a lay user can generate a static web page or site in any language or character set the user's operating system supports. Also, an international corporation could establish a design template, populate it with content in their native language, and give a translation house administrative authority to generate an unlimited number of similar sites in a variety of other languages.

  • Image and Multimedia Uploading—The content entered by users is not restricted to text only. Users can also upload images, music files, video clips, or Quicktime VR panning images.

  • On-the-fly Template Switching—Using TownSmith Web Templates, a user can switch template designs at any time during the page or site creation process. Also a user can return to the system and change the design template without having to re-enter the content.

  • Navigation Links Creation—The software is capable of automatically generating links on a larger Web site when new template-driven pages or sections are added by lay users. In this way, visitors to the site will be able to easily navigate to those new pages or sections.

  • Source Code Manipulation—The user can be provided with a variety of check boxes or a field where they can enter a list of words that apply to the type of content they have inserted into a page. The software will then insert those words or alternative libraries of words into the source code for the page (for example in the key words tags) such that the page can easily be searched and listed by search engines.

  • Administrative Access Control—A web site administrator can issue access rights to various users such that only that user can add to and manipulate a certain page or section of a larger web site.

  • Staging and Approval—If desired, TownSmith Web Templates can post pages in a staging area where they must be approved by an authorized administrator before they are added to the site or published to the Web.

  • Universal Identity Control—TownSmith Web Templates allows an entity to establish a central identity that is propagated across all the pages of their site. If the company decides to change elements in their templates, for example by updating their logo, the new identity will be automatically propagated across all pages that were created with the software.
