The TownSmith Messaging software framework is one module of the TownSmith suite of electronic community and electronic commerce functionality tools.

TownSmith Messaging enables a web site administrator to create an unlimited number of online bulletin boards. TownSmith Messaging cannot really be described as an electronic bulletin board system (BBS). Although TownSmith Messaging offers all the standard functionality of a BBS, its capabilities reach far beyond that.

TownSmith Messaging also allows users to mark certain discussion threads for notification and have future messages posted to those threads e-mailed to them or dropped into one of their "mail boxes" on your site. Users can also create their own bulletin boards and make them either public or private.
